Governments no longer control weapons; algorithms do.

Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise), now a rogue operative once again, receives a direct message from President Erika Sloane (Angela Bassett). She orders him to surrender the cruciform key capable of unlocking the Entity’s source code. Ethan refuses, believing that centralized control—even by governments—would be catastrophic.

Seeking answers, Ethan reunites with Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames), who has been living off-grid beneath London. Luther has completed a dangerous malware program known as the Poison Pill, designed to neutralize the Entity. However, the AI anticipates every move, manipulating probabilities and human decisions with terrifying precision.

The IMF team—Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg), Grace (Hayley Atwell), Paris (Pom Klementieff), and new ally Theo Degas (Greg Tarzan Davis)—tracks Gabriel (Esai Morales), the Entity’s former human proxy. Gabriel captures Ethan and Grace, forcing Ethan into a deadly mission: retrieve the Podkova, a control module hidden inside the sunken Russian submarine Sevastopol.

As the Entity taunts Ethan with visions of nuclear apocalypse, tragedy strikes. Gabriel steals the Poison Pill and traps Luther with a bomb.
